"Hacienda Rosetta Marie", in Tucson, Arizona, within
Tucson's most prestigious gated subdivision "The Canyons", represents
one of the world's finest mellifluous blends of art, history, quality,
utility and privacy. Truly one-of-a-kind, Hacienda Rosetta Marie is a
world-class, handmade home that is an authentic recreation of centuries
old hacienda.
Located on one of the premier residential lots in Arizona (with
thousands of acres of the Coronado National Forest and the Santa
Catalina Mountains rising up behind as though one could reach out and
touch them) Hacienda Rosetta Marie offers 180 degree mountain views from
all north facing windows and 180 degree city views from all south facing
windows. Yet it is within minutes of Tucson's fashionable shopping
centers featuring Tiffany and Company, Louis Vuitton, Georgio Armani and
is within minutes of some of the Southwest's finest dining.
The home was built by a collaboration of architects, builders and
artisans from around the world. Twenty-six pages of photos and text on
Hacienda Rosetta Marie were featured in Ralph Kylloe's book The Rustic
Cabin. The home was fully featured in Phoenix Home and Garden Magazine,
was later awarded "Bathroom of the Century" in the 25th Anniversary
Issue and was awarded "Pool of the Year" for the State of Arizona.
The owners sent the architects, builders and artisans to Mexico for a
period of time to study architecture and materials before construction.
Materials were then brought in from many regions of the county and
world. The ceilings are made of old barn wood. A team of blacksmiths was
employed on site for the creation of all doors, windows, door hinges,
door hardware and many of the light fixtures. As the owners say, other
than the HVAC system, plumbing, electrical system and appliances, there
is nothing in the home that can be purchased - it was built on site.
Spanish colonial design, soft sunlight, sublet nuances, antique
beams, hand-adzed corbels, oxidized iron & isinglass light fixtures,
iron door & window hinges, soaring cathedral ceilings & windows,
handmade window shutters, cantera stone accents, centuries old baptismal
fonts, tumbled brick-on-end & wood plank floors, colored glass windows,
row upon row of built-in bookshelves, six fireplaces, handmade mission
tiles with weeping mortar, native stone walls & benches, handmade gates,
gloriously manicured landscaping, grounds & walkways, bougainvilleas,
petunias, lush desert vegetation, cacti, saguaros, yucca plants, deer,
coyotes, bobcats and much more represent the character and rustic charm
of Hacienda Rosetta Marie. Built in four separate sections - all four
sections are then joined under one common roof. The construction quality
is second-to-none. All exterior and most interior walls are several feet
thick, made of a combination of CMU and Rastra block, then inside and
out, covered with several coats of imperial plaster. Recently a Greek
Orthodox priest from Greece visited the home on two occasions and was
overwhelmed with its beauty and presence. He said he had seen nothing
like it - including in Europe. When looking through the living room, out
past the grounds and up to the mountains, the congruity, peace, energy
and spirituality of the home are stunningly apparent - one knows they
are truly in a special place. Welcome! |
